RAMALLAH , Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The ancient Chinese martial art of Shaolin Kung Fu was on stage for the first time in Palestine Sunday evening, and was highly welcomed by the locals, especially young Kung Fu fans.

A group of 19 Shaolin Kung Fu masters from Henan province of China performed a variety of scenes in the show, including collective boxing, weapons show, hard and soft Qigong , as well as Shaolin unique skills.

Shaolin Kung Fu is one of the national heritages of China and well known among Palestinians. Performing Kung Fu in Palestine not only helps local people understand more about the unique Chinese culture, but boosts friendship and communication between the two nations, according to Chen Xingzhong, director of the Chinese Office in Palestine

Audiences said it was their first time to see real Kung Fu on stage. "The show was amazing. A lot of Palestinian young people love Chinese Kung Fu but they don't have many chances to see it. This is a wonderful opportunity," said Yahya Saleh, a Palestinian audience.

Earlier in the day , the Shaolin Kung Fu delegation met with Palestinian Minister of Culture Ehab Bseiso and Chairman of the Palestinian Olympic Committee Jibril Rajoub. Extending welcome to the delegation, Bseiso hoped there will be more cultural visits between the nations and more books mutually translated. Rajoub wished that China could send more sport coaches to Palestine.

Besides the show, the delegation also exchanged their experiences with some Palestinian youths who have been practicing Kung Fu.

Shaolin Kung Fu is a complex art taught mainly by oral formulas handed down from generation to generation. In history, recognition of inheritors of Shaolin Kung Fu was based on a patriarchal clan system of Shaolin temple.

The reputation of Shaolin Kung Fu was set early during the Sui and Tang dynasties (581 - 907). In the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), it became a unique school of Kung Fu and established itself as a school of excellence.

NAIROBI, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Olympic champion David Rudisha is not expected to leave his training camp in Germany to join his colleagues in Nairobi preparing for the Commonwealth Games.

Track and Field Team manager Paul Mutwi , who is also Athletics Kenya (AK) vice president, said on Monday Rudisha will be allowed to compete abroad and also remain at his Germany training camp ahead of the games, which will start in Glasgow on July 24 to Aug. 3.

"Rudisha is getting back to form and he is away with permission from us. He can train in Germany or even here. There is no problem," Mutwi said in Nairobi.

Head coach Boniface Tirem said Rudisha who is in Germany will have ample time to focus on his training and expects him to shake off his rust after staying out of competition for a full year.

"He has come back strongly running 1:44. For someone who has been out that long, it is a major step. We have discussed with him and he will have one or two races in Europe, where we expect him to lower that time down to 1:43 or 1:42. We expect a fast time from him in Glasgow ," said Tirem.

Rudisha, the world 800m record holder (1:40.91), has been entered top run in Monaco and Glasgow legs of the Diamond League, before heading straight to the Kenya camp in the Scottish capital.

A knee injury while jogging in New York ruled out Rudisha for a full year, having started his season in Doha (2013) running 1:43.

Kenya team has already moved to camp in Nairobi for the final preparations before they fly out to Scotland for the games. Kenya finished fifth in the last games in Delhi, India winning 12 gold , 10 silver and 10 bronze.

It is a record the country seeks to eclipse in Glasgow, with Swimming, Boxing and rugby sevens expected to be other disciplines that Kenya targets to scope medals from.

In athletics, the top form of Africa Javelin Champion Julius Yego is expected to help widen the scope to the field event

"I have started strongly competing in Shanghai, Ostrava, Tokyo and Rome. But my target is to do well in Glasgow in my first Commonwealth games ," said Yego.

Of the 195 athletes selected, only marathoners will embark on separate preparations at their traditional and preferred training ground in Eldoret.

The team currently under the tutelage of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) is bigger than the squad that went to New Delhi in 2010, with Athletics taking the greater portion at 59 in 15 federations.

All teams are expected at the camp with Rugby and Judo given an exceptional chance for reserve players in the camp to cover for any injuries, however they will not travel to Glasgow.

ANKARA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Turkish soccer powerhouse Galatasaray has terminated contract with Italian coach Roberto Mancini, local Today's Zaman reported Wednesday.

The major reason for the termination of the contract was the poor performance of Galatasaray last season , said the report, adding that both sides had agreed on the terminiation.

Mancini took over from Fatih Terim in the early stages of the season and led Galatasaray to the second place in the Turkish Super League.

However, the fans had high hopes of clinching the Turkish cup on Mancini when he took over.

Mancini, 48, has been out of work since being dismissed as City manager last May, after a three-and-a-half-year reign at the Etihad Stadium that included a Premier League title success in 2012 and a 2011 FA Cup victory.

Galatasaray signed a three-year contract with Mancini last October.
